Inception

According to co-founder Marc Merrill, the genesis of League of Legends was more about a mindset than a design plan.

Merrill and co-founder Brandon Beck were friends in college while they were both business students at the University of Southern California. They became close because they both enjoyed playing video games. Following college, the two roomed together in a West Hollywood apartment as Merrill pursued a career in business management and Beck worked as a management consultant at Bain & Company.
